Window to Heaven

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

~

“…the people living in darkness have seen a great light;

on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned.”

From that time on Jesus began to preach,

“Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near.”

Matthew 4:16

Window to Heaven

Make me a crystal

near to your heart

reflecting

refracting

your Light into art

~

Make me a window

under your throne

a portal

a signpost

to lead others home

Make me a rainbow

and worthy to be

a vision

a lantern

so others may see.

I noticed that the sunlight was shining through the prism onto our wall one morning…

Without the presence of light

the crystal is just a piece of glass.

This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you:

God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.

The Words We Write

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

to give his people the knowledge of salvation

through the forgiveness of their sins,

 because of the tender mercy of our God,

by which the rising sun will come to us from heaven

to shine on those living in darkness

and in the shadow of death,

to guide our feet into the path of peace.

Luke 1:77-79

The Words We Write

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If others read
the pages of our life
will they find enough knowledge
to set their souls aright?
~
If others read
the binding of our book
will they see sure salvation
without a second look?
~
If others read
a paragraph of our days
will they learn of forgiveness
and be drawn to His ways?
~
If others read
a sentence here and there
will they taste of tender mercies
of a God who deeply cares?
~
If others read
the final chapter of our life
will they see the Sunrise from on high
in all the words that we write?
~
Wendy/2013
Unless Jesus is our Rising Sun –  we are deeply sunk…
and those that read our writing  will be led astray into darkness.
May we yield to his Light and leading.
Catch Me When I Fall
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
The Lord is gracious and compassionate,
slow to anger and rich in love.
The Lord is good to all;
he has compassion on all he has made.
Psalm 145:8-9
Catch Me When I Fall
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I know better than I behave

my actions paint my heart so small

You’ve taught me so much and so well

But please catch me when I fall

~

I do what I thought I shouldn’t

and do what I ought hardly at all

I’ve painted dimly the light of You

But  please catch me when I fall

~

I know your patience is abundant

and mercy paints a tree red and tall

love spilled through the blood of grace

Each time You catch me when I fall.

When Ian and I walked through a nearby park

 this maple leaf holding the smaller leaf caught my attention.

I thought to myself,

“This is a poem.”

It amazes me how often I’ve experienced God’s tender mercy

cushioning my falls so that I’m not entirely crushed and lost.

He has been faithful in continuing what He has started.

Heartbreak Hotel

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

~

Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? …

See how the lilies of the field grow…

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness,

and all these things will be given to you as well.

Matthew 6:27,28 & 33

Heartbreak Hotel

**********************

I’ve come to realize

that this heartbreak hotel

is not my forever home

just briefly here I’ll dwell

~

These bones become brittle

a breaking down abode

riddled with ‘carpenter ants’

osteoarthritis of the old

~

Meanwhile there’s a mansion

being prepared yonder skies

so attachment to this room

is neither profitable nor wise

~

As my decor grows passe

all my service for the Lord

will be in vogue forever

as I’m ushered through death’s door.

Last week I experienced a taste of what’s to come…

my foot decided to crank up the pain level.

I have osteoarthritis that I manage without medication.

By living moderately I can deal with the aches and pains (usually) until last week.

Thankfully I have an attentive doctor who immediately sent me for tests.

So far we’ve discovered nothing about the foot;

however, we found out I’m deficient in iron.

That explains why I feel like I’m walking uphill all the time;

so, it wasn’t just aging after all.

Take care of yourselves, dear friends.

There’s no point getting to the finish line ahead of schedule.

Whispers of His Love

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

For as high as the heavens are above the earth,

so great is his love for those who fear him;

as far as the east is from the west,

so far has he removed our transgressions from us.

As a father has compassion on his children,

so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him;

for he knows how we are formed,

he remembers that we are dust.

Psalm 103:11-14

Whispers of His Love

*********************

In the quiet stillness

of my night

I hear the whispers of his love

When the noise of day has dimmed

His voice waxes – moon like

to rise above

~

As I lay my head

upon his bosom

My heart held safely in his rest

by a perfect Father

who knows of all my sin

and yet I am still blessed

~

I need not fret for peace

 about tomorrow

or worry my way through night

for He has plans to prosper me

remembering I’m but dust

He’s bled my wrongs with Right.

“It was a gentle whisper that turned my heart to Him.”

This is a quote from a poem I wrote over thirty years ago when I was a new Christian.

It is still the gentle whispers of his love that encourage me above all else.

I can never be good enough to earn his love.

I can never be bad enough to lose his love.

God is love!

And because He is love…

Christ will continue the transforming work He has started in me

until I meet Jesus face to face.

May I/we be found still seeking his face when He returns.
